Primary Purpose

Plans, organizes, conducts and communicates primary customer research studies, for achieving corporate and internal client goals related to customers; supports other team members and provides information to management on customer attitudes and perceptions, knowledge, behavior and demographics.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides information on the voice of the customer (attitudes, knowledge, behaviors) by supporting, reporting and communicating primary research results, and providing recommendations for improvement to internal clients.
  • Provides information and customer insight to management, research team and major internal customers. Work effectively with other team members and across the organization. Handle client expectations related to schedule/timeline.
  • Develop research solutions to business problems. Plans, organizes schedules and develops procedures for customer research efforts, and applies them within scope of objectives and budget.
  • Evaluate, coordinate, monitor the activities of research suppliers and review and evaluate the effectiveness of their research and reporting platforms. Monitor and recommends improvements in the acquisition, maintenance, distribution and utilization of research information.
  • Respond to archival research report requests and data requests required by various departments, divisions and regulatory agencies. Research and respond to inquiries and complaints from customers related to the research conducted as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge and awareness of technical developments in the fields of consumer research and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience), preferably in marketing, communications or social science.
  • 3 – 5 years – professional experience related to consumer research or marketing research activities. Required
  • Experience is required in designing and overseeing research projects.
  • Experience working in the energy industry a plus.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of primary and secondary research techniques and applications. Intermediate
  • Requires judgment and ability in survey methodology, design, data interpretation, analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated effective project management, negotiation and organizational abilities. Intermediate
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize large data sets and customer insights, transforming disparate data into actionable and strategic insights, ultimately sharing the story of the data.
  • Diplomacy and tact when dealing with others; positively influences others and gains their respect, cooperation and support. Intermediate
  • Detail orientated and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, strong work ethic and adherence to deadlines. Intermediate
  • Must possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Intermediate
  • Proficiency in online survey design, SQL, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Intermediate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the energy industry a plus.
  • Experience in research project management using an Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma approach is a plus.
