Primary Purpose:

Leads drafting and execution of interconnection agreements for generator/transmission entities interconnecting to SDG&E transmission grid. Provides leadership for the planning, development, and implementation of large-scale, major strategic business and technology projects. Effectively collaborates with internal departments, stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and vendors to support the construction and synchronization of new generators as well as their associated O&M billing and interconnection financial security postings. Responsible for budget and resource planning. Single point of contact for all economic and regulatory issues for the assigned projects. May provide direction to a small group of direct reports

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and coordinates all activities leading to the successful completion of large-scale, major strategic projects including project scoping, timelines, cost estimates and design. Develops and maintains project parameters for project requirements. Builds business cases and project justifications.
  • Directs, controls and monitors team members, both internal and outside contractors, in the completion of their work.
  • Manages related workforce planning, budget analysis, and budget forecasts.
  • Analyzes and determines regulatory impacts and requirements of the project.
  • Researches and evaluates available contractors and consultants. Prepares, negotiates, and approves or recommends approval of contracts. Negotiates contracts changes.
  • Testifies before and/or prepares supporting documentation for CPUC and other government agencies concerning cost estimates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineer, Business or equivalent
  • 8+ related experience required.
  • Project management knowledge required.
  • Must be able to assess the potential financial impact of a project to the Company.
  • Must possess the ability to review complex problems and propose innovative solutions.
  • Must be able to build solid business cases/project justifications.

Desired Qualifications:

  • An MBA or advanced degree desired.
