Primary Purpose:
Responsible for managing, coordinating and implementing internal communications strategies, plans and programs to support the strategic goals, business objectives and company values of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and communicate corporate strategy and key messages to a wide variety of internal audiences in clear language, using a variety of communications tactics. Work with teams to identify best practices and determine communication channels to support business objectives.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and internal communications channels and obtain feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Provide executive communications to support senior executive staff, including preparing talking points for critical topics, company announcements, etc. Research, write and edit all types of communication materials.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop/implement successful internal communications plans and strategies for the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or equivalent training and experience.
  • 5 years corporate, agency or public-sector communications experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, oral communications, communications planning, issues and project management skills.
  • Effectively communicate positions and points of view.
  • Ability to translate complex material into understandable language for targeted audiences.
  • Ability to manage projects against deadlines.
  • Work effectively in a team environment (virtually and in-person, as needed) and ability to work in a large organization with multiple layers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications channels, production and distribution.
  • Ability to understand different audiences, their needs and potential reactions to communications strategies, and corporate intranet.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making independent judgment calls
  • Working knowledge of social media.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent follow-through. Strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding company and employee information.
  • Occasional travel required, within the service territory to attend work-related meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience interfacing with all levels of management.
