Primary Purpose:

The Electric Operations Technology Analyst is responsible for configuring and provisioning the distribution SCADA software application, coordinating the installation and configuration of remotely operated SCADA devices, providing operational support and troubleshooting of these devices, and ensuring all requirements are met through operational data analysis.

Administers the distribution SCADA system, performs maintenance duties and troubleshooting to support the performance of the system, including identification of data inaccuracies/inconsistencies, and communicates findings with team stakeholders for resolution. Provides technical and business process support to the Distribution Control Center on a daily basis, and during storms and major events when these such events occur. Responsible for maintaining an excellent safety culture and contributing to the safe, reliable delivery of electric power to our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers and executes processes/procedures and addresses issues for products and services supported in Operation Technology. Maintains and configures graphic operator interfaces and databases for new and existing SCADA devices. May support analysis and report creation, exception processing, and service management.
  • Performs and administers test procedures to place new SCADA controlled devices in service. Supports test schedule coordination with other departments for installation, maintenance and repair of SCADA controlled devices and equipment.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware and software (including specialized applications such as OSI Soft PI, OMS/DMS (NMS), Monitors systems and key processes, reviews system and application logs, and verifies completion of scheduled SCADA maintenance and installation jobs.
  • Provides technical support through troubleshooting and diagnosing software/hardware failures, user conduct, or other source of error. Prioritizes issue resolution. Participates in on-call rotation, which requires the ability to access and troubleshoot hardware and software issues and bring the system back online, if needed.
  • Implements new products, services, and operational solutions as well as augments existing capabilities. May assist or conduct application training on an individual or group basis with key operational personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Technical (Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years System administration or computer system/network security experience, or operational experience supporting control system environments.
  • Possess an understanding of IT concepts including network structures, operating system capabilities and application architecture requirements.
  • Must be able to administer software/application technologies encompassing: MS Windows, Red Hat Linux, OSI Soft PI, Oracle, and computer security.
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational and/or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Must have intermediate proficiency using Office365 (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook), SharePoint, and data analytics tools.
  • Must have the ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Must have the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audience of all career levels.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Technology certification (Microsoft, CISCO, etc.) is desired.
