Primary Purpose:

Responsible for the development, ownership, and implementation of reporting and support system environments. Provide a leadership role analyzing, developing specifications, implementing enhancements/defect resolutions of existing databases, systems and reports. Analyze operational data to generate ad hoc and regulatory reports/data requests for operational business units, third parties, and the CPUC.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage medium/large system support environment initiatives such as complex system enhancements or new system development utilizing proven system development methodologies.
  • Design, develop, and implement SQL Queries to analyze structured data to meet the needs of reporting requirements. Analyze data and build data sets to be able to effectively report for data requests and regulatory reporting.
  • Design, develop, and implement scrum ticketing system for the Systems Support business unit.
  • Work closely in coordinating data driven reports with operational business units.
  • Provide guidance and direction to troubleshoot existing or potential system modifications; evaluate and plan for effects on systems; plan and request system enhancements.
  • Manage and maintain processes, tools, data and methods within the organization.
  • Proactive in identifying, developing, and presenting business process changes, and conduct post implementation analysis; develop and review project reports.
  • Schedule and lead meetings, prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and schedule status reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, statistics, data science, or information systems.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of testing technical applications, business/project management, customer service, finance, or information technology.
  • Possess a mastery of database querying languages (SQL) and working knowledge of data analysis working tools such as R, Python, or SAS.
  • Must have the ability to identify issues, analyze data, develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Strong SharePoint administrator skills. (Dev Ops also preferred)
  • Must have knowledge and experience in scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to develop data visualization reports utilizing Power BI.
  • Ability to manage projects and have influence and negotiation skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, and work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to lead a team to achieve high levels of performance.
  • Sustained attention to quality and detail. Strong communication, organizational and planning skills are required.
  • Able to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Must possess initiative, decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities. Proficient writing skills are necessary for routine communications and to prepare documentation such as Requirements, Test Plans, Implementation Plans, Training Materials, etc.
  • Proven success on previous system development projects whereby skills have been developed that enable the ability to lead a complex system enhancement or new system project.
  • Ability to serve as liaison between business unit employees and Information Technologies developers to transform business objectives into information technology solutions. Must have the ability to gather and analyze complex data, reach conclusions, develop alternatives, make decisions and act to implement changes.
  • Ability to Utilize the IT Product Lifecycle methodologies to ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and meet business needs. Must have financial analysis and timeline/project skills.
  • Knowledge of Business Practices and ability to define system change impacts on business processes.
  • Strong computer skills are required to demonstrate competency in company supported desktop software (i.e., Microsoft Products including Project, PowerPoint, and Visio).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of predictive modeling and machine learning is preferred.
  • Master’s computer science, statistics, data science, or information systems with 3+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of testing technical applications, business/project management, customer service, finance, or information technology.
